How to Change BackTrack hostname

In this post i'll show you how to change BackTrack OS hostname. As you know by default hostname of BackTrack is bt. So let's do that.


1. Open terminal and type in cd /etc/ and hit Enter.
2. Now simply type in ls and again hit Enter.
3. After that type in nano hostname and hit Enter.
4. And you can see same screen as in picture below.



Now we simply clean bt and replace it with hostname you want. Now use keyboard combination Ctrl+X and press on Y key from keyboard and hit enter.
5. Now type on terminal nano hosts command and hit Enter.
6. Find and clean bt line and between it type new hostname. And again we need to use Ctrl+X keyboard combination, press key on keyboard and hit Enter.



7. Type in terminal reboot command and hit Enter. After machine rebooted you can see your new hostname appeared.
