I think that you know about registry editor in Windows. In some cases you need to use that to change different kind of settings. And before you edit some settings on it you need to do all very carefully, if you change some settings you can't back it to default, or you need to remember location of that settings you has changed. But to do that all process more confidently you can create a backup file of registry before you do it. And i'll be show you now how to do that.
On Windows XP
1. Open Start menu and navigate to All programs -> System tools -> System restore.
2. And now find and click on the Create a Restore Point and after that click Next
3. Now you need to type description and click Create tab.
On Windows Vista/7/8/8.1
1. Open Run box by using Windows+R keyboard combination.
2. After you open it, now you need to type in regedit into text box and hit Enter.
3. Now from File menu choose Export line.
4. And now choose direction where you want to save backup file and give a name to file and save it.

Now after you already have a backup file of registry and you complete your work but you want to restore registry with backup, we need to do next.

1. Double click on that backup file you created.
2. In new opened warn window press on Yes button. And wait until all the keys will get imported.
