The Bluetooth History and Name

Nowadays anybody know about Bluetooth. But i think after some years it will be out of date, because NFC comes to change it. But still Bluetooth is really important part of our device. So ever you interested about Bluetooth, why its called Bluetooth? The story of Bluetooth. If no then you should read this post, because its and informative and interesting.
Intel mobile computing engineer Jim Kardach was approached by his boss him asking him to develop technology which would help integrate wireless into the notebook. Jim developed a technology for exchanging data over short distances using short-wavelength radio transmissions.
Intel later approached a small group of companies including Ericsson and Nokia, IBM, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba to form a consortium to discuss the short range wireless technologies and the need to develop a single short-range standard for the same. The idea was to discourage having three or more competing standards for the same technology. During this process of negotiations, it was noticed that each company referred to the technology by different names and this created much confusion. It was then that Jim came up with a code name Bluetooth. Jim Kardach being a huge history fan heard from Sven of Ericson talk about a 10th century king of Denmark. Back at home he received a novel he had ordered named ‘The Vikings’ by Gwyn in which he again read about the Harald Balaatand whom Sven had mentioned. King Harald Blaatand “Bluetooth” 11 united parts of Norway and the dissonant Danish tribes into a single kingdom and ruled Denmark and Sweden seamlessly. Jim proposed the codename to the Special Interest Group (SIG) that was working on a single standard. Harold “Bluetooth’s” success in uniting Scandinavia seemed like the perfect name to describe a technology which would make PC’s and phones communicate seamlessly. This name was initially proposed as a codename only until the group came up with a singular name for the technology. However, the group evidently adopted the name in the end.
That's all you need to know about Bluetooth. I hope you find this interesting. Then make sure you share this post with your friends.

Apple Launches Swift Programming Language for Writing OS X and iOS Apps

At WWDC 2014 Apple come with new iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite operating systems. But that's not all. Apple really surprised us by launching new Swift Programming Language. Swift seems to be poised to replace Objective-C as the main programming language on Apple’s platforms. This programming language will use the same LLVM compiler and runtime as Apple’s Objective-C implementation.

Some of the highlights of the language according to Apple

  • Generics
  • Structs that support methods, extensions, protocols.
  • Tuples and multiple return values
  • Closures (similar to blocks in C and Objective-C) unified with function pointers
  • Fast and concise iteration over a range or collection
  • Functional programming patterns, e.g.: map and filter

If you are a developer then you can download this Book and read about that programming language.

New Skype Translator to Break down language Barriers

Skype is very important thing nowadays. Because its help people to communicate from different places. If your friend, familiar person so far away from you and you miss him/her and want to listen his/her voice and see, then you just call him via Skype. Its give you a chance to get friends from different countries. People speak on Skype by different languages, and that's a problem, that they don't understand each other. Its too difficult to speak with person who speak in different language. You need to use translator or explain with emotions.
Soon Skype become with a new function. Skype app will synchronized translate video calls. Two part of video call can speak in their native language and listen partner.
About this report Satya Nadella, General Manager of Skype.
In this project Microsoft team works about 10 years. And definitely they have done this with Skype team together.

Banks Still Using Windows XP Could Pay Millions For Extended Customer Support

Despite so many warnings from Microsoft and Cyber Security Experts, Windows XP is still being used by a number of Government organizations, Financial institutions as well as big Corporations all around the world. If we look at the statistics then almost 30% of computers you will find that still run Windows XP, including banks, airline companies, and other huge enterprises, the count in real is likely to be even higher than the estimated. But If you stick with Windows XP after April 8 2014, you might be at a great risk as XP will take its last breath officially on that day and will die! This fact poses danger to its users as they will be exposed to all kinds of treats. Almost thirteen years after it was ‘first released’ i.e. April 8 when the Redmond, Washington-headquartered Corporation will stop support for its longest running and most successful OS, Windows XP. Continue using Windows XP after April 8, it will serve you as a Dead Zombie, because Microsoft will no longer support its own Operating System. So, the bugs and Security vulnerabilities will go forever unpatched. It’s difficult to believe that around 95% of the 420,000 bank’s ATMs in the USA, the country which is known for the world’s largest National Cyber Security Division, also run on Windows XP, but after the deadline if a serious security flaw or vulnerability is found in Windows XP, the banks on their own will defend against the increasingly high-tech cyber criminals. Since there is almost 29% of the desktop market share worldwide running the older version of Windows; So, a malware of epic scale could be fabricated if a suitable zero-day vulnerability was found and it’s beyond your reach that what damage and destruction, cyber criminals might cause with such exploits. As currently 95 percent of banks’ ATMs run XP which is around 2.2 million machines worldwide. So, it’s difficult to upgrade it all to Windows 7 by the April deadline, therefore the banks have arranged or are in the process of arranging extended support for Windows XP from Microsoft. It is estimated that for British banks alone, the cost of extending support for Windows XP would be around £50 to £60 million. “There are certainly large enterprise customers who haven’t finished their migrations yet and are purchasing custom support,” a spokesman for Microsoft told a Reuters. But, you are strongly advised to upgrade your system or if your friends or family members are still running the older version, help them upgrade to Windows 7/8 as soon as possible.

Microsoft releases Office for iPad

Microsoft's announcement that it's bringing Office to the iPad is a game changer. Naysayers have belittled the tablet as a toy or a content consumption gadget since it launched. The argument has always been shaky, but with the world's most popular productivity suite now available for the iPad, you can no longer deny that the tablet is, in fact, just an evolution of the personal computer. The debate is partially semantic. Diehards will tell you "PC" refers only to a traditional Wintel computer. But most of us extend the term to encompass Mac OS X, Linux, and Chrome OS, as well, and the defining characteristics have more to do with how we use them. For the vast majority of businesses and consumers, the primary activities on a PC boil down to email, social networking, Web surfing, and producing content—like Word docs, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. There are still certain industries and specific applications that require a given platform or operating system, but for 80-plus percent of users a tablet like the iPad can do the job. Even without Microsoft Office, both iPads and Android tablets have apps and services available to meet basic computing needs. Now that Microsoft has developed touch-enabled native versions of the core Office applications for the iPad, it's more than capable of going head-to-head with a desktop or laptop PC for productivity power. I'm a long-time proponent of this idea. Just over two years ago I said, “When laptops became notebooks, then netbooks, then ultrabooks there was no panic about the end of the PC. They’re all just variations on a theme--different sizes and shapes of personal computers. The same is true for tablets.” I also pointed out that Apple and Microsoft were both strong illustrations of the point. Both companies—the developers of the two leading desktop operating systems—were aggressively pursuing paths intent on melding desktop and mobile, and evolving the traditional desktop experience for the tablet. Microsoft continues to steer down that path with its own desktop and mobile platforms, but it also recognizes the world has changed. Sales continue to decline for traditional PCs, while tablets and smartphones have usurped the role of primary computing device for many users. Microsoft developed the Office for iPad apps because it understands that the Wintel platform no longer enjoys the virtual monopoly it once did, and it never will again. The PC has evolved to include tablets, and Microsoft has adapted by providing the tools users need to get things done no matter what form their “personal computer” may take.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Apple iPhone 5S

Samsung’s next big thing is here, and they have focused hard on creating new experiences inside of a similar design. The Galaxy S5 has a lot of internal changes in the way it accomplishes tasks, with a new focus on day-to-day uses and a huge effort towards simplistic user interfaces. Sound familiar? It should, because we’ve recently seen Apple go through the same transformation with iOS 7. There are a significant number of parallels that can be drawn between these two ecosystems, despite being represented by hardware that couldn’t look more different. Which is the better phone, inside the better ecosystem, with the best overall experience? Let’s lake a look. Samsung keeps pushing the S line bigger and bigger, and this year is no exception. The 5.1-inch beast is only a slight twist on Samsung design on the outside. The plastic casing and bright colors are exactly what you expect from Samsung, with the same oval button in the middle. The rear casing of the S5 sports a new texture to help avoid accidental slips, but otherwise it’s the Samsung design that you already already don’t like or currently have in your pocket. Apple is another company whose external design is repetitive, but the svelte textured aluminum design for the iPhone 5S makes the phone feel like it should be an expensive piece of equipment. The 4-inch display is what Samsung is currently calling Mini in some of their other products, and it’s hard to disagree anymore. There’s not many people out there who would complain about a larger iPhone anymore, which creates an amusing pair of extremes when comparing the S5 and 5S to one another. There’s no clear winner when it comes to how big the phone is, but it can’t be argued that the iPhone 5S looks and feels like a premium device compared to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
This is a touchy subject for a couple of reasons, most notably that Samsung is guilty of both feeling slower than similarly equipped Android phones and cheating on performance benchmarks. We’ve been assured and shown that the Galaxy S5 features a slimmer and trimmer TouchWiz, so there’s a good chance that Samsung is going to be more than enough competition for Apple. The 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM driving a 432ppi 1080p display sounds eerily similar to the Google Nexus 5, and makes the phone a powerhouse that is more than capable of delivering on whatever needs you may have. On top of raw power, Samsung has included an impressive new heartbeat sensor and a new system for optimizing the display color and gamut for whatever environment you’re in. Despite looking the same on the outside, this is an impressive Galaxy on the inside. Apple has a well-documented history with their mobile devices and the performance levels they are capable of. Despite being underpowered on paper, they have repeatedly outclasses their Android counterparts in both competing basic tasks and complex things like games. The iPhone 5S is packing a 64-bit processor that didn’t do much to make it more powerful, but makes it a unique force to compete with. Unfortunately, Apple’s infamous 326ppi Retina display is dramatically less capable than Samsung’s latest, with no optimizations outside of brightness for different environments. Samsung clearly has the leg up on Apple when it comes to what is written on paper, but the Galaxy S5 is facing a long history of being disappointing despite packing a superior punch. The Galaxy S5 takes this category, but only time will tell if they actually deserve it.

iOS 7.1 is now available

Apple’s biggest update to iOS in quite a while has arrived, and is available for you to install right now. After a host of security updates and other minor bugfixes, Apple is ready to update iOS 7 with it’s first major batch of new or updated features. The update hits devices today with practically zero excitement or revelry, which is odd considering all the goodies that have been packed inside it. This update includes the recently unveiled CarPlay features, as well as updates to Siri, iTunes Radio, Accessibility features, and performance improvements for Touch ID, the iPhone 5S camera, and an overall boost for the iPhone 4.
While it will be quite some time before most of us are taking advantage of CarPlay, the autoHDR mode on the iPhone 5S camera will be a welcomed addition to an already great camera app. The added Siri functionality plays right in to the CarPlay features as well, but Apple right by making it available through the rest of Siri’s capabilities.

Touch ID gaining a performance boost will be a big deal for those who use it regularly, though it’s unlikely to have made the feature any more or less secure against forged fingerprints.

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 Preview

The Galaxy S5’s design is a minor evolution of the Galaxy S4 — in fact, the two are almost indistinguishable from the front. The S5’s display is ever so slightly larger at 5.1 inches, but it’s still a 1080p, Super AMOLED panel that doesn’t look very different from the S4’s screen. Below the display is a new home key with integrated fingerprint scanner and capacitive keys for multitasking and Android’s back button. Samsung has retained the familiar metal-looking plastic surround on the S5, though the charging port (now USB 3.0) comes with an integrated port cover for waterproofing. The S5 is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance, meaning it can be submerged in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Though the S5 is extremely familiar-looking from the front, things take a turn around back, where Samsung has replaced the S4’s slimy, glossy plastic battery cover with a dimpled soft-touch finish. The company is calling this a "modern glam" look, though if you’re familiar with the original Nexus 7 released in 2012, it’s very similar to that. The new back offers a significant upgrade in they way the device feels — it’s much more comfortable to hold and doesn’t slide off of surfaces nearly as much as the S4 — but it doesn’t look as tacky as the fake-leather patterns used on Samsung’s Note line of devices. Samsung is offering the S5 in four different colors — black, white, blue, and gold — but the black and white are the most attractive options. The first complaint usually levied at Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones is their abundant use of glossy, cheap feeling plastic, but the S5’s new finish reverses this trend and is one of the most significant upgrades introduced this year.
But despite the refined design and new patterned finish, the S5 is unmistakably a Samsung smartphone. The S5 is launching with Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Samsung’s user interface fully intact.
Samsung is making a huge push into fitness tracking this year, and the Galaxy S5 benefits from a revamped S Health app and new heart-rate sensor on its back. The new S Health app can sync with Samsung’s Gear line of wearables, including the Gear Fit fitness band, and it offers guided coaching and feedback while you work out. Developers will be able to tap into the data offered by the service through an SDK that will be out later this year. The heart rate monitor is a unique addition and is located just below the camera and reads your fingertip to grab your pulse in about five to ten seconds. In our brief tests, the sensor worked as advertised and was able to give me a reading in just a few seconds. Less successful is Samsung’s take on the fingerprint-unlock system made popular by Apple with the iPhone 5S. Like the 5S, the S5’s home key features an integrated fingerprint scanner, which can be used to unlock the phone or authenticate purchases online (Samsung is partnering with PayPal to enable this feature, though it doesn’t validate purchases from the Google Play Store). Samsung’s version requires a vertical swipe over the home button to activate the scanner, and we found it to be quite unreliable and virtually impossible to activate when holding the phone in one hand. It can store up to three different digits, but it was very particular about the speed and orientation of the swiping motion used — if we weren’t doing a perfectly straight swipe down, it would refuse to unlock the phone.
Samsung didn’t ignore the other vital components of the S5 it has a faster, 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a larger battery with the promised 20 percent better stamina, as well as a new low-power conservation mode to get the most battery possible when you’re running low. The S5 is as fast as you’d expect Samsung has ensured that its flagship phone is one of the most powerful on the market for a number of years now, and the S5 is no different. Galaxys5 500 portrait The camera has been upgraded to a 16-megapixel sensor with 4K video capabilities, and it now supports real-time HDR processing for better photos in mixed lighting. It’s now possible to apply Samsung’s unique camera effects after a picture has been taken, so you don’t have to worry about what mode you’re in when shooting pics. Samsung has also greatly simplified the camera interface, and in our brief tests, it was pretty snappy and responsive.
The Galaxy S5 is scheduled to launch globally on April 11th and will be available on all major US carriers, though Samsung isn’t yet ready to talk pricing. Chances are, the price won’t matter — Samsung has built a very recognizable and successful brand with its Galaxy smartphones, and there’s no reason the S5 won’t continue the company’s success.

Facebook has bought messaging app WhatsApp in a deal worth a total of $19bn in cash and shares. It is the social networking giant's biggest acquisition to date. WhatsApp has more than 450 million monthly users and is popular with people looking to avoid text messaging charges. In a statement announcing the deal, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg described WhatsApp's services as "incredibly valuable". WhatsApp allows users to send messages over internet connections, avoiding text messaging fees. The company claims it is currently registering one million new users a day. It makes money by charging users a subscription fee of $1 per year, although it offers a free model as well. The deal to buy it includes $4bn in cash and approximately $12bn-worth of Facebook shares, plus an additional $3bn in stock to WhatsApp's founders and employees at a later date. On a conference call to discuss the deal, WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum said he planned to operate the firm "independently and autonomously". He will also become a member of Facebook's board of directors. "We're excited and honoured to partner with Mark and Facebook as we continue to bring our product to more people around the world," Mr Koum said in a statement. Zuckerberg said the prospect of a deal was first floated just 11 days ago.

Nokia is ready to launch its first android phone, named Nokia Normandy, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday February 24, 2014 according to the news reports. This Nokia Normandy powered by Google does not provide the access to Google play application store, but it will run the apps created by Nokia and Microsoft like the Here Map and Mix Radio. The Finnish headset based on the open source operating system is embattled at the developing market where the inexpensive Smartphones are already ruling. Nokia’s effort to restrict Windows Phone for high end devices and the introduction of the android in the emerging markets is an effort to win back its position. But the forked Android system of Nokia Normandy may heavily take toll on its $7.4 billion acquisition by Microsoft.
